WITRICITY |
The word “WITRICITY” stands for “Wireless Transmission of Electricity”. Wireless energy transfer or wireless power transmission is the process that takes place in any system where electrical energy is transmitted from a power source to an electrical device without interconnecting wires. The British scientist Nikola Tesla had firstly given the idea for Witricity.
The main principle of Witricity is “Mutual Inductance between two resonant circuits”. Mutual inductance is the property of one coil due to which it opposes the change of current in other coil and the electromotive force induced in a coil due to the change of flux produced by another coil linking with it is called “mutually induced EMF”. |

Advantages: |
|
Disadvantages: |
• |
Portability of electrical devices |
• |
Less Negative effects (Radiation) |
• |
Highly efficient than induction at particular distance |
|
|
• |
Low Power efficiency |
• |
Not possible for larger distance yet |
• |
Risk of living very near to electrical energy |
|
|
In future grid to grid power transmission will also be possible. Researchers are developing a technique with use of resonance to produce Witricity. Despite of contraindications Witricity is seemed to have a bright future with many advantages. |
